Otherwise, the more well-crafted your argument is, the more likely you are to lose. This is why competent people end up in situations where like, this is clearly the better solution. I don't understand why this other person isn't seeing it. The problem is, they're not focused on the solution. They're focused on your perceived competence. They might be thinking that you're talking down to them, you're dismissive to them, you think you're better than them. Or your competence is somehow threatening to their reputation, resources, or whatever. This is especially true if you're talking to someone who's more senior, more tenured, older, because of that they might feel like they should be the more competent party and feel more threatened by yours. So next time when you're trying to persuade someone, think about their mentality first before you craft your argument. With the death of God, many other things die, things you don't expect, and one of the things that dies when God dies is science, and no one expected that. How so? Because science as a practice is a religious practice. It's predicated on religious axioms. You have to believe that there's such a thing as truth. You have to believe that the truth is understandable. You have to believe that understanding the truth is good. You have to believe that there is such a thing as good. So imagine, to be a scientist, you have to imagine that, first of all, that the world is comprehensible to the human intellect. But more, that if you investigate the mysteries of the material world, that that will be beneficial. Those aren't scientific claims. Those are metaphysical claims, and that metaphysical claim is nested in a story. Knowing the enlightenment types, they've portrayed the scientific revolution as something contrary to the religious substrate, and that's not accurate. That's a French revolution. That's a Luciferian intellect history. It's not true. The universities grew out of the monasteries. That's where the universities came from. And science, as a widespread enterprise, got its start in the universities. ## Caption / Post Text "For from him and through him and for him are all things.  To him be the glory forever! Amen." The shared image (originally by @eddyfontaine) describes a "principled man" who pushes his partner to study hard, believes in her more than she believes in herself, and supports her with snacks and care while she works — framed as both a complaint and a humble-brag. The core message: a good partner is genuinely interested in your growth and development. ## Key Claims - **Partner as growth catalyst:** A romantic partner should be invested in your personal development, not just comfort. - **Believing in someone more than they believe in themselves:** The best partners see your potential and push you toward it. - **Growth requires mutual willingness:** As one commenter notes, you can't force growth on someone who doesn't want it — "You can force a camel to drink water even if you take it to the pool side." - **Support during the grind:** True partnership means bringing snacks, encouragement, and practical care while your partner does hard work. ## Topic Application - **relationships**: The post is directly about romantic partnership dynamics — what to look for in a partner and how partners should support each other's growth. - **mindset**: The underlying theme is about growth orientation — choosing a partner who pushes you to grow and being willing to grow yourself. ## Concept Linkages - [[Concept - Personal Agency]] — The post touches on agency in relationships: choosing a partner who supports your growth, and the importance of wanting to grow yourself. - [[Concept - Attitude Gap]] — The idea that a partner can believe in you more than you believe in yourself relates to the attitude gap — the difference between self-perception and actual potential. ## Related Sources (Idea-to-Idea) - **[COMPLEMENTS]** [[Every father owes these 4 things to his kids]] — Both focus on a father’s obligations to his children. - **[COMPLEMENTS]** [[A fathers love]] — Both highlight fatherhood as sacrificial love. ## Linkages

Like, it's not enough to have GPS, they want to know all the roads in the streets around them and have it in their head, type thing like that. And I'm sure you've noticed this with your dad, like your dad knows a little bit about everything. He's not an expert on many things, but he just knows random stuff about different wars throughout history and politics and all this stuff. And it's kind of a patchy knowledge, but it's because he was grasping for little pockets of truth and trying to build his model as he was growing up. And so many of the times when a guy is like man's explaining to a girl, he's really just excited to share his mental model with that girl. And he actually is sharing his mental model as like a little gift. It's like a little kid showing you their artwork, like they're proud of it. And that's why they get excited about it. And I think that excitement gets misinterpreted as being like oppression, like he's trying to just talk over me and like he's trying to talk down to me, but it's really like he's just, he's like, oh, I've modeled this. I'm going to share this with you type thing. Yeah, I'm sure there's times where you know exactly what he's going to tell you, or maybe even know more than what he's going to tell you, but it's just his way of like gift giving. ## Caption / Post Text *(None)* ## Key Claims - The sad thing about the term man's planning is that it pathologizes one of the more innocent and sincere aspects of male psychology, namely that men, and this is not just exclusive to men, but it's just natural for men, but men from a very early age, like when they're a little boy onward, are interested in building a mental model of the world. - Like, it's not enough to have GPS, they want to know all the roads in the streets around them and have it in their head, type thing like that. - And I'm sure you've noticed this with your dad, like your dad knows a little bit about everything. - He's not an expert on many things, but he just knows random stuff about different wars throughout history and politics and all this stuff. - And it's kind of a patchy knowledge, but it's because he was grasping for little pockets of truth and trying to build his model as he was growing up. ## Topic Application - **other**: General ## Caveats ## Related Sources (Idea-to-Idea) - **[COMPLEMENTS]** [[Justin Green Spiritual Leadership in Marriage Ephesians 5]] — Both connect faith with marriage, leadership, and family order. - **[SUPPORTS]** [[Trust in the Lord and everything else will come after]] — Both point toward trust in God rather than self-striving alone. ## Linkages

And if you give into that temptation, which you often will, then it wins and because it wins, it gets a little dopamine kick and it grows stronger. I would think things to myself like, this is weaponized in competence. He's doing this on purpose to make me clean up after him. He's not putting in the dishwasher. He's not putting it in the sink. It's like a declaration that he can do whatever he wants. And I just have to deal with it. It's sick. He's so he's so torturous to me. And then there was one day that I was just at home kind of cleaning up some things by myself and I drank the last of my life. The post centers on a controversial Alex Karp / Palantir quote about not having a great social life at 20 if you want to be truly successful. The comments show the clip is highly polarizing, with reactions ranging from admiration to strong hostility. ## Key Ideas - **Success and social life are framed as a tradeoff in the quote.** - **Palantir / Alex Karp evoke strong ideological reactions.** - **Even when transcript access is limited, the reaction layer itself is useful signal.** ## Notable Public Reactions - “I never met anyone successful who couldn’t hide their insecurities.” - “If you want a great social life at twenty you won’t be successful?” - “This guy sold his soul.” ## Caveat Only public comments were accessible through the extraction method; the actual spoken content was not retrieved. ## Related Sources (Idea-to-Idea) - **[COMPLEMENTS]** [[Discipline - you're devoting between hours day craft you're trying]] — Karp’s quote frames success as requiring social-life sacrifice in youth; the craft-discipline source makes the same tradeoff concrete by arguing that professional-level excellence demands extreme daily devotion to the craft. - **[COMPLEMENTS]** [[Nvidia's CEO - Your success is dictated by 3 things]] — Both sources present success as the reward for choosing difficult paths most people avoid: Karp emphasizes giving up an easy social life, while Jensen Huang emphasizes choosing hard work you can suffer through long enough to win.

Sowell demonstrates that wherever preferential policies have been implemented, regardless of the country or the groups involved, they produce the same pattern: initial symbolic benefits, escalating group resentment, institutional deterioration, and ethnic conflict, without achieving their stated goal of group economic equality. The book is Sowell's most systematic empirical refutation of the policy framework that underlies modern social justice advocacy. ## Key Claims - **The universal failure pattern:** In every country studied, preferential policies failed to achieve economic parity, created or worsened ethnic resentment, lowered institutional standards (universities, civil service), and became politically impossible to end once created. - **The "credentials gap":** Groups admitted under lowered standards consistently underperform and have higher dropout/failure rates, creating a self-reinforcing perception of inferiority that the policy was designed to combat. - **The escalation dynamic:** Preferential policies never achieve their stated goal and are therefore never "enough" — they expand in scope (more groups, more sectors, lower thresholds) and duration (temporary measures become permanent), creating an ever-growing institutional dependency. - **The Sri Lankan warning:** Sri Lanka's preferential policies for the Sinhalese majority against the Tamil minority escalated from university admissions to language laws to civil war — the most extreme example of how preferential policies can destroy a society. ## Notable Quotes > "In every country studied, preferential policies failed to achieve economic parity, created or worsened ethnic resentment, and lowered institutional standards." > > "Groups admitted under lowered standards consistently underperform, creating a self-reinforcing perception of inferiority that the policy was designed to combat." > > "Preferential policies never achieve their stated goal and are therefore never enough — they expand in scope and duration, creating permanent dependency." > > "Sri Lanka's preferential policies escalated from university admissions to language laws to civil war — the most extreme example of how preferential policies can destroy a society." ## Relevance to thesis Affirmative Action Around the World is the empirical foundation for [[Concept - Reparations Without Dependency]] — the argument that reparations must not take the form of preferential policies because those policies have failed universally. The book's evidence is directly relevant to Caribbean contexts where preferential policies (e.g., for indigenous or majority populations against more commercially successful minorities) have been tried and failed. The escalation dynamic is the warning for any reparations framework: once preferential policies are established, they become impossible to end and tend to expand, creating permanent dependency rather than temporary redress. The credentials gap is directly relevant to [[Concept - Attitude Gap]] — policies that signal a group can't succeed without lowered standards reinforce rather than close the attitude gap. ## Topics & Tags **Stance:** challenges — systematically refutes preferential policies across all countries studied ## Connections ### Related Sources - **[COMPLEMENTS]** [[Sowell - Civil Rights Rhetoric or Reality]] — The American application of this comparative analysis - **[COMPLEMENTS]** [[Sowell - The Economics and Politics of Race]] — The earlier comparative study including political interventions - **[COMPLEMENTS]** [[Sowell - Discrimination and Disparities]] — The theoretical framework for why group disparities can't be engineered away ### Related Concepts - [[Concept - Reparations Without Dependency]] — the universal failure pattern as evidence for capacity-building over preferential treatment - [[Concept - Attitude Gap]] — preferential policies reinforce the perception

Those times were ordinary. No, no, you're degree. They put it up, Mary. And nationality, nationality is Nigeria. That's what I had. OND, my half-wired master's. So, if there was any excuse for how to disable, to disable, they were splent. Secondly, we were classmates in secondary school. So, in fact, we started off as a mid. By the time we met again, she had even taken up two or three or four steps ahead. So, ordinary, I should be a sleep in the house. You see, if it's a cultural marriage that I did, with the master's degree holder, she would slow me. I would be sleeping and I would be around there. You see, this will happen. So, let these guys come find husbands. Because usually, sometimes women blossom fast as financial in the world we live in. They are men. So, do they remember you now? They were master's degree holder. They've told the men must provide for her. What can they provide? Of my, for 20, like I said, she has not spent the first rude word. First rude word. We've not had to debate. I've not had to quit and be head to her. I've never had to quit so many years. But never. You know why? You know why? What many people are doing that they're marling anybody they like, then they want to choose the outcome of the marriage. You don't choose to. Once you choose the person you want to marry, that has already determined the outcome. So, that's why young people are making mistake. They are falling in love. Please don't fall in love. Every time people fall, they're sorry we tell them. Fall is always a negative thing. It's an involuntary negative harmful thing. Don't fall in love. Brue in love. Is there anybody that your name starts with V here? Anybody that their name starts with V? Don't be ashamed of it. It's your name V. What's your name? Vicka, come out now. Yeah, Victoria. So, you're waiting useless. Come out. If your name starts with N, N, anybody like that? Your name starts with N. Come to the stage. OK, you have V? What's your name? Quintak? Quinca. Well, that's a lot. All right, this is the audience. So, this starts with V. So, she represents a verb. What is a verb? Beautiful. This starts with N. She represents it now. What's it now? Name of animal, place or thing. See why many marriages struggle? Many people are focused on the end, the now. They want a relationship as in the now. They want a marriage now. They won't love now. But all these things, it doesn't start from the now. It starts from the where. What does she look out for is, do we have the right flow? Relationship as a flow? If we have the right relationship between ourselves as a flow, then we can now enter a relationship as in now. Many people want marriage now. That's right. If you notice the people, they focus on wedding. What they wanted. That's right. They will say, the happiest day of their life. It's the day they were gifted with marriage as in now. But that wedding day is not the marriage. It's the beginning of the doing part. That's why marriage is the doing part. What is oxygen? You know, it's had this year, not successfully wedding. What is oxygen? Is it now? What phase is what? Be doing the everyday doing. You see couples are not as a three weeks. They are not doing. You see couples are not doing the job. It's absent. But the marriage as in now is present. If you want to succeed, let this verb relationship grow into that now relationship. Let this verb love. Love is a doing what I hope you know. When people treat love as in now, that's what you're happy is like. I don't let you anymore. It was an item they used to have. There is no more present. Real love is a verb. It's a doing what they promise that you continuously do. It's not in now. It's not the p

I mean it's totally worth it because I literally didn't learn most of this stuff until I hit 30. I feel like that's a little late to learn how to make your bed right. But it is what it is. Now the biggest thing I found out was that if you're still using cotton sheets, they have dust mites. Now dust mites are these little mites that live in your sheets and basically feed off your skin. It's gross, I'm sorry. The problem with that is one out every 10 people is allergic to them, which means you lay down in your bed and you start to sneeze. Or one side of your nose stops up. Or first thing in the morning, you have allergies that you don't know why you have them. Just coughing in season for like an hour. And then it goes away like you were never sick at all. If you have that allergy, it's caused by your sheets. It's not you, it's not your body, it's the sheets. So step one is replacing the cotton sheets with the vegan silk. The reason I choose vegan silk is because it's natural, non-toxic and it stops the sneezing. Also, it stops the sweating. Hack number two. If you sweat a lot, not only do you need moisture wicking sheets, moisture wicking basically means if you sweat in the bed, the fabric will pull the moisture off of you and dry it really fast, which means you never wake up damn. Now cotton holds moisture. You know how your towel stays wet after you get out of the shower? If you get up in the morning, you make your bed, it's gonna mold. Moisture plus darkness making your bed equals mold. So if you make your bed first thing in the morning, your cotton sheet has probably molded. So for the hot sleepers, you need vegan silk, a cooling sheet and a mattress topper with cooling jail if you sleep that hot. Also, bringing down your body temperature helps you go to sleep faster. Number three. Since you can't put your mattress in the washing machine, we use encasement that keeps the bed blood out. You heard about them. You don't want them. Number four, if you're like me, brew up with asthma and currently have allergies, make sure you have an air purifier. Air purifier is pulled all the allergens out of the air and clean them, so you don't walk around sniffing, it's not in all day. You need that for your bedroom. Real bad. Number five, if you have acne, you need to have a silk pillow case. Silk helps nourish your skin. You don't want to make your skin even more mad with cotton because that's what it's going to do. Number six, magnesium. Now the easiest way to do magnesium is topper cool. That means you need to rub it on you. It absorbs through the skin and it's easier not to overdose. Rubbing it is fine, the spray is even better. Don't mind me if I get it wrong. If you can, get the magnesium from the jerk steam. See, that's the one you want. That's the good stuff. Number seven, I know we're moving into spring, summertime, but if you are a cold sleeper, a cover hot sleepers, if you are a cold sleeper, you need to discover the double duvetment. That means you take not one but two duvets, stuff them into a duvet cover, the silk, and time together. It gives you the soft, just, fluffy, and spet, especially if you use down, listen, you'll never get out of it. Number seven, this the one where y'all hate it, I'm so sorry, but you hate it. No furry blankets? No furry pillow on things that touch your bedsheet. Reason why is because cotton carries dust mites. So your pillows carry dust mites. And if you don't want to be breathing that in all night, get it away from your face, put it at the end of your bed. Do not choose furry decorative pillows to put on top of your face pillows. It's gonna cause a problem.

Of course, what would he unique set of passions and interests? Thank God one of the husband's stuff says, you don't share the same interests, you just share the same budget. And I think that is so true for so many friendships, unfortunately, that are so deeply bonded by shared spending power versus real shared interests. And it's an unfortunate truth, but I think one people should acknowledge. And sometimes in front groups, people leave a person out, that they think it's being left out by choice, and they don't have enough self-awareness to realize they're leaving them out by price gating them out of the experience that is to bring the friend group together. Which is not a nice thing. So if you're in a friend group where members of a friend group have different degrees of spending power, try to be a bit more self-aware about the plans you make for the group, and make sure that you allow everyone to participate by doing things everyone can actually partake in. So as you plan the rest of your week, try not to forget. ## Caption / Post Text International students, this one’s for you. It seems like more and more, there's this push for black mediocrity. White people are being asked to be quote-unquote allies, and if you love me, you'll back these policies. I wanted to get your opinion on a commercial that I recently saw that seems to be kind of pushing this narrative. It's about a minute and a half long. You love me. You love me, not. You love black culture, but do you love me? You love how I sound. My voice, these beats, this flow, not me, Dora. You love how I look, my hair, this skin, but me, nah. We don't get to exist. We're forced to survive. We still fight. We still play while the world burns. Unfills that ain't even level. All men are created equal. That's my favorite part. You hate us so deeply, but you're still so impressed. Why can't you see? There's history in our skin. You build this country on our backs. I'm him. He's me. She or us. We are all black, black. Power! Power the little brides. I got the power! Power! Power the world, cried, we got it! Power the world! Love me or not. We love each other deeply. We gonna be us. We gonna break breathe. We gonna defy gravity. You love my culture. But do you love me? What a world that would be. So that was a headphones commercial. Dude, that's messed up. And never saw that before. I have no idea what that was about. I'm serious. I have no idea what that clip was about. I'm totally lost. I'm crazy. Who comes up with this stuff? Some people have some vivid imaginations. I'll tell you that. What do you start with that? Oh my goodness. It's really promoting products to help them make more money. It's using blacks for their own personal gain. You got this whole big thing about black people and how they're not really loved by mainstream, society, artists and net. Not to end it, beats by a drain. Buy my headphones. I'm gonna use this perception that you're a victim and do a commercial to get you to buy my product. It's insulting. They sell you a bill of goods while they make a lot of money. I don't know who owns drabites. I believe it's Apple. They bought them out, do you know? Last time I checked Apple was run by a white man. They promoted facade, but behind the scenes, drab made a billion dollars off of merging with a white man. Dr. Dre is successful because America allowed him to be successful. Was he a drug dealer or something? What sense this is? We can't win like this. It's all Victocrat, mentality, word, salad, nonsense. Knock it off. Tell people to do what you did. You have a dream, work hard, make your dream come true. That's what you gotta be telling people. With a video like that, the first question that anyone should have is who is deciding what our culture looks like. When black culture is relegated to hair and beats and things that are superficial, it tells black people that there's only one way to be black. If your idea of black culture is an individual with tattoos all over their body, who smokes weed, sags or pans, wears a do-rag and so on and so forth, should that be black culture? Is that what you think black culture is? This kind of entertainment? How you look and not anything else? Someone that puts that out there by saying black folks are just good to entertain and look good. There'll be the same ones that say that the outside people are the ones that are being racist against us. It's telling other young people that white people are your problem. And then white people will support it to try to prove that they don't hate black people, to show that, oh, we don't hate you, we care about you, right? But that won't work either. It's not a good example for young people, that's for sure. It's trying to move the goalposts yet again. We're kind of running out of arguments to make of how America is a racist country. And so now we want to appeal to
