One of the impediments to people who've really taken a blow in their life is that things have fallen apart around them so badly that where they have to start is humiliating even to consider the rule. It's pretty straightforward rule when you want to get back on your feet and the rule is you have to make the task small enough so that you'll do it. When people are very down and out and they decide to make a move forward in some ways they're facing the whole panoply of problems that confront them in the guise of that single problem. You know, they see the tip of a reptiles tail outside a gigantic closet, let's say, and they look and they think, well, that's just the tip of a tail. What harm can it do me, but it's connected to the whole damn beast. And the advantage to that is that if you make that first step forward you're actually advancing in the face of all that opposition. The disadvantage is that the first task seems so small that you literally have to be on your knees to be humble enough to lower yourself to take that first step. ## Caption / Post Text This is how to move foward when you are really down and out…… Jordan B Peterson The rule is you have to make the tasks so small that you can actually do them. You're already see the woman's lifestyle. You see how she live in. So she's already living that lifestyle on one of her own. What exactly is the issue? You know you can't afford it. Now when she asks you for money to upkeep the lifestyle she's already living. Wait, wait, wait. What exactly are these women and these scenarios doing? Why would they be asking men for money in the first place? I thought these women were strong and independent and could do things all on their own and obviously they've been maintaining their lifestyles beforehand. But yet they would ask men for money while they're dating. That's where they're giving the impression that some women aren't as strong and independent as they want everyone else to think that they are. It's either that or they just view men as walking ATMs. So which one is it? You want to get attitude. Go be with your type. She's not your type. Right. They should be what their type shouldn't they. Life is not like high school or college, where you have a professor watching over your shoulder making sure that you don't cheat. Life is very, very unfair, and the people who win are often not. In fact, almost always not the people who played fair to get there. So you must figure out a way for you to also play dirty. When I was back in Columbia, there were so, so many beautiful girls who had spent all day complaining about not being able to find any internships. And I remember looking at them and thinking, this is so silly that you're even hoping that someone's going to pick your name from ResmiPile of 4,000 while you have zero internship experience in zero projects. Instead, why don't you just with your LinkedIn profile picture go DM a senior PM at the company that you want to work for, ask him out to dinner or a coffee chat and ask him for an internship when you're there. You know, that 35-year-old child who only hangs out with his Indian coworkers is going to say yes to the beautiful 21-year-old Columbia student who asks him out to dinner. You are beautiful, just use your beauty. And there's so many other advantages in life too, you know. If you have rich parents then, like, why are you even fucking playing tennis or soccer or anything hyper competitive? Go be the best underwater equestrian that you can possibly be and get into the Harvard that way. Don't use some of their money, you know. Go to the best boarding school. Go to the best private school, get the best private tutors because the world is not fair and it's not easy and power and money in the world are not evenly distributed. It's not everyone gets 1% of all the power. If some people get 99% of everything and the rest get pretty much nothing. So if you have an unfair advantage then you should abuse it because life really is not easy for anyone. And when nobody else is playing fair for you to play fair is to be stupid. ## Caption / Post Text Life is unfair. If the choice is easy to reverse, speed is most important, you should move fast. If it's hard to reverse and you gotta live with it, then you need to think carefully before you make the call. In life, the biggest cost is the time you waste making the decision. Sometimes sitting around thinking about whether I'm gonna run today is costing me much more than just like him. Do you think about how you kill that mental debate? Speed is perpetually undervalued, that's for sure. Life is short. The sooner that you make decisions, the sooner you get information. I have a little framework that I call hats, haircuts and tattoos. A lot of decisions are like hats. Try one hat if you don't like it, take it off and try another. Just real quick, speed is most important. Move quickly, get some information, learn something. If it was wrong, it's not that big of a deal. Just take it off and put a new hat on. Haircut is a little bit trickier. It's a decision that you have to live with for a little bit. Like you're okay if you get a bad haircut, but you're gonna have to live with it for a month or two. It's gonna take a little bit of time for it to grow out. And so it's probably not a big deal to be scared of getting a bad haircut. I think a lot of people probably talk themselves out of it. It's like you'll be fine in a month. It's fine. Tattoos are trickier. You know, you get a tattoo, you gotta live with that choice. It's permanent. Really what we're getting at here is, is the choice reversible or is the choice irreversible? If the choice is easy to reverse, speed is most important, you should move fast. If it's hard to reverse and you gotta live with it, then you think carefully before you make the call. I think probably what you're seeing is that most decisions in life are hats and haircuts. It's very rare that you end up with a tattoo. But we treat them all like tattoos. We are scared, particularly the bad haircuts, I think. The ones that linger for just a little bit, but not that long, it's like, it's gonna take you a month to fix this if you get it wrong. But that's fine, a month's gonna pass anyway. It's not that big of a deal, but we act like it's bigger deal than it is. ## Caption / Post Text *(None)* ## Key Claims - is the choice reversible or is the choice irreversible. - If the choice is easy to reverse, speed is most important, you should move fast. - If it's hard to reverse and you gotta live with it, then you need to think carefully before you make the call. - In life, the biggest cost is the time you waste making the decision. - Sometimes sitting around thinking about whether I'm gonna run today is costing me much more than just like him. ## Topic Application - **ai**: AI/tech - **local**: Barbados/Caribbean - **culture**: Culture ## Caveats ## Related Sources (Idea-to-Idea) - [[18 eye-opening truths about life that'll teach you more than a 4-year degree]] — **[EXTENDS]**: This is the operational version of the anti-waiting message: move fast when a choice is reversible, because hesitation wastes time. - [[Discipline - Remember it's separates winners losers]] — **[COMPLEMENTS]**: Both argue that action reveals more than endless deliberation, especially when life is moving on regardless. - [[Relationships - Mel hard make friends get older]] — **[COMPLEMENTS]**: Both frame time as the real cost — one says the biggest cost is time wasted deciding, the other says the great scattering of friendships happens because people don't invest intentionally. ## Linkages

And a lot of women will justify this by saying, oh, it's just being nice. I was just being polite. Don't be nice. Don't be polite. Be correct. Be the right person. OK. It's not about doing what feels good. It's about doing what is good for the relationship. OK. So sometimes having a conversation is unprofessional and it's not necessarily conducive to being in a relationship. Going into a relationship in a partnership means that you can't do certain things that you used to be able to do before. It goes both ways for men and women. And so the reality is you're not supposed to really put yourself in those situations that increase temptation because everyone is capable of cheating. The people that stay loyal in relationships are the ones that stay away from temptation. And sometimes being friendly to you might be them flirting with you. And you might not even realize this. Because men understand that women build a relationship first. And sometimes they try to build that relationship with you knowing that you have a boyfriend because they know that they can be your next option. It's a very, very deep psychological maneuver that not a lot of people understand. But men see it. Men, it's not that he doesn't trust you. He just doesn't trust other men. And you're supposed to make other men jealous of your man. Not your man jealous of other men. ## Caption / Post Text Due to children continuing to be dumb asses comments are now being turned off permanently. I believe he has ideas of becoming a scientist on his present showing this is quite ridiculous. Your scientific ambitions are a waste of time. Now, I believe you came. What was it? 250 out of 250 in size? Yes, I was the worst out of 250. Right. Bottom of the class. In other words, that's... Bottom of the class. How that teacher got it wrong, right? Well, are we sure? Maybe... Maybe... Well, you've won the Nobel Prize for medicine, so... I don't know how many times I've done experiments that don't work. So... You've got a copy of that report in your lab? I do, yes, to remind oneself when the experiments don't work, that maybe he had a point. I'm a total non-intellectual. You see, I hate reading. Feel uncomfortable all these books around the place that makes me feel quite uneasy. I get to read books if I can possibly help it. So I'm really a total non-intellectual. ## Caption / Post Text "I was the worst out of 250." Not even Nobel Prize laureates get straight A's. Hear 2012 medicine laureate John Gurdon speak about being a non-intellectual and having a teacher that thought it was "ridiculous" that Gurdon thought about becoming a scientist. Developmental biologist Gurdon received the medicine prize “for the discovery that mature cells can be reprogrammed to become pluripotent.” #NobelPrize ## Key Claims - Your teacher said, your report was disastrous. - I believe he has ideas of becoming a scientist on his present showing this is quite ridiculous. - Your scientific ambitions are a waste of time. - Now, I believe you came. - What was it? 250 out of 250 in size? Yes, I was the worst out of 250. ## Topic Application - **mindset**: Mindset/psychology - **ai**: AI/tech ## Caveats ## Related Sources (Idea-to-Idea) - **[EXEMPLIFIES]** [[Be Careful - Victim Language Can Destroy Your Potential]] — Gurdon was ranked worst of 250 and told his scientific ambitions were "ridiculous"—exactly the kind of "you can't" victim language Tracy warns against. Yet Gurdon didn't internalize it, kept the teacher's report as a reminder, and won the Nobel Prize. His story is a real-world case of rejecting victim language. ## Linkages

They have taken power over from the British, the Dutch, the French, the Belgians and look at the Congo. Look at Nigeria. 45 million people. They don't enjoy our standard of living. Vast natural resources. About 20 persons per square mile. Why? I've asked myself this often why because I must know the reason otherwise I cannot fulfill my simple elementary function as a minister of the Singapore government. And I tell you there are many reasons. First the will to be a nation. If a group of human beings do not want to together constitute a nation, nothing can make them other than superior force. That's what the Dutch and the British did with their empires and the French. Whether you like the other chap or not, I say that you together constitute my colony and you are all very subjects of French citizens or Dutch protected persons and so on. Now each one of them have taken over. And a heterogeneous lot have taken over. And that variegated group must agree that they want to be a people. ## Caption / Post Text Lee Kuan Yew on why Singapore succeeded and post-colonial African states didn’t. 🇸🇬 In this rare 1960s interview, Singapore’s founding Prime Minister explains why having vast natural resources means nothing without the will to be a nation. John Lennonix is a scientist, mathematician, and Christian apologist. In 2012, he was at Oxford University, where he logically defended the Christian faith and exposed the many unreasonable tenets of atheism. This was one of the most brilliant displays of logic and arguments for God in Christianity. What people are missing is that Richard Dawkins, one of the most notable atheists and opponents of Christianity, was sitting in the audience. I believe in God. I believe in the supernatural God who created the heavens and the earth. I believe in a God who holds the heavens and the earth in existence. I believe that on the basis of rational evidence, similar to the beliefs held by the founders of this house, who gave this university the motto, Domino's Illuminati-o-May-A. They saw no contradiction between faith and God and the utmost excellence in rational inquiry. And if I dare mention my alma mater of Cambridge in this holy place, I would remind you that on the door of the Cavendish laboratory in Cambridge are written the words, greater the works of the Lord, studied by all who delighted them. And as we look at the rise of science in the 16th and 17th centuries, Alfred North Whitehead and many others commented that men became scientific because they expected law in nature and they expected law in nature because they believed in the law giver. So, ladies and gentlemen, I'm not ashamed of being both a scientist in a Christian, because arguably Christianity gave them my subject. What I am amazed at is that serious thinkers today continue to ask us to choose between God and science. That's like asking people to choose between Henry Ford and engineering as an explanation of the motor car. When Newton discovered his law of gravity, he didn't say I've got a law, I don't need God. No, he wrote the Pinchippia Mathematica, arguably the greatest work in the whole history of science. Because he saw that God is not the same kind of explanation as a scientific explanation. God doesn't compete. Agency does not compete with mechanism and law. Why is there something rather than nothing? Alan Sandage, the brilliant cosmologist, who became a Christian in his 50s, said God is the answer to that question. But people are now so desperate to show that the universe created itself from nothing when it seems to me to be an immediate oxymoron. If I say X created Y, I'm assuming the existence of X to explain the existence of Y. If I say X created X, I'm assuming the existence of X to explain the existence of X which simply shows that nonsense remains nonsense even if high-powered scientists utter it. It reminds me a little bit of G. K. Chesternan, who said it is absurd to complain that it is unthinkable for an unthinkable God to make everything out of nothing and then to pretend that it is more thinkable that nothing should turn itself into everything. The heavens declare the glory of God says the ancient Psalm. And we've unraveled a bit of that, seeing the fine shooting of the fundamental forces of nature. It's something that's so striking to scientists that it demands explanation. And it seems to me that Arno Penzius hit it right. He is the Nobel Prize winner who discovered the microwave background on which a lot of the evidence for the big bangers based. He said astronomy leads us to a unique event, a universe which was created out of nothing. One with the very delicate balance needed to provide exactly the right conditions required to forbid life. And one which has an underlying, one mig

And I started taking money off and made her queen for a date. She didn't have to do anything. She didn't have to cook breakfast, don't know, it's nothing. Sometimes she didn't have to make up the beat because I did that for her. Then the man used to call me, boy, you just hit me, guys. They know no problem. No, you being picked by the right hand. And then I told him if he got a good pick, a little pick. I'm trying to help your brothers out here. And then they told me, man, you are... I waited pains in my house. I waited pains. I said, I do too. All of them, she put out for my Saturday night to put on Sunday morning. And I'm going to get to my messy, but I'm on the later side. I'm on the later side because me and I want to be my children. Feel like if they share the tea or that day, we can... No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I know this meeting, but if you'll help me, see, you've got to be happy in the home, too. I don't want nobody to help a kid in the house and trying to preach to me in the church. So that if you have a good wife, treat her like she's your wife. That's your honey, that's your baby, that's your sugar, and that's your speed heart. If you've got a good wife, she could be anything to you you won't hurt to be. And women's like compliments. Come on sister, y'all got to get a bit of a... When your wife get ready to come to church, you'll be out of certain time you want to leave the house. She'll put on clothes and she'll look come to you and say, how does it look? You, that's... She fit to go change again. She put on another dress, you oughta... She fit to go change a green. When she put it on and come and tie and stand right and you see, how does this look? You brother said, baby, you look good in that. And then you fit to get out the house. If you've got a good wife, she'd dress to please you, not anybody else. She's not concerned, a good wife and not concerned about any kind of man trying to hit on her. She won't hit from you. We did a lot of seminars, still gonna tell you one more thing. Don't forget about your wife, never think about it. If you've got a good friend, you're always trying to shoe off for your good friend. You know, right, you look pinnacle and you're popping up. Shoe off for your wife. Look, alright, you're... Shoe off for your wife. Now, did you shoe off for your wife, you go to the drugstore by wanting a mercy card. And then when you buy that card, you put your mercy on it. Speed hard, shiver, baby. You know, all that, you know. And then you put a piece of money, as you got into knowing your wife, cause it's three places she's gonna go to before she did it in the bench. She's going to the mirror in the bathroom. And she's gonna make sure she got that little cream or whatever on her face to make it look good. And she's gonna go to the mirror when she comes in the house to make sure we have good and put on a little sleeping cap. And she's gonna go to have a card right there. And then you have another... This is the big card right here. You take one and you put a big piece of money under that one. And you put it under the pillow. And now just here's the last one. Where she turned that pillow back and opened that card with all t

That jump right there tells me everything I need to know about you, how you are reared, and what little space you have for a healthy relationships and autonomy. And it's even more interesting how the fastest way to get unfollowed on this app, I will have mass unfollows when I state that I don't advocate for hitting children. And I want you to get out of here as quickly as possible. Get out! And instead of pausing and thinking, huh, maybe there's a healthier way. They'll sprint to defend violence with their whole chest. And then wonder why the adult versions of those same children want nothing to do with them. You know what's so fascinating? We create an entire culture of obedience where it's mistaken for respect, fears, mistaken for discipline, silence, mistaken for good behavior. And then we act shocked. When growl children say, I don't feel emotionally safe around my parents or most adults for that matter. But let me ask you something. Let me ask you something. Where do you think this epidemic of cutting off family actually comes from? Do you think thousands of thousands of news of adults woke up on day and said, I'm bored? Let me sever life long relationships. Or do you think maybe? Just maybe. People are tired of calling fear, love, and control, parent to end. Listen, I am not delusional. I have two children. I'm fighting for my life. I'm not saying that obedience has no place. If my child is running across the street, obey me now. If safety is the issue, yes, follow the directive. But obedience is situational. Respect and relationships are foundational, right? Because parenthood is the only relationship where people believe they are old closeness, old loyalty, old intimacy, simply because they had a child. Nobody felt out of a request for them to be here. You invited them into a world you knew was hard. The bare minimum should be learning how to build a relationship with that person, not demanding one. And what floors me is the lack of foresight. You're rare child to be silent and scared and obedient. And then you get mad when the adult version of that child wants nothing to do with you has nothing to say with you. You taught them silence and you taught them distance and you taught them to associate you with fear. Why would they suddenly switch to a connection? So no! Respect face parenting is not being your child's friend. If it's being your child's safe adult, it's teaching them communication instead of compliance. It's giving them emotional tools instead of trauma responses. It's rearing a human being instead of thinking that you are training and employee. Okay. You always hear this little comment like you only get 18 summers with your child. No, y'all trash pants only is set 18 summers with your child. I'm gonna be up in my child's face. I still call my mom like mom. What you doing? If this conversation feels challenged into you, that's okay. Many of us were not reared with an example of respect and childhood. We were given obedience and it is so hard. It is so hard to create something that you have never seen up close. But that doesn't mean you don't get to do it. That doesn't mean you don't get to do it. So if you want to learn how to build connection with your child without losing like structure and thinking that you need to control them, let me know! ## Caption / Post Text *(None)* ## Key Claims - You know what's so interesting to me, every time I talk about respect between children and parents, somebody jumps straight to the, oh, so you want to be their friend. - That jump right there tells me everything I need to know abou
